NC³Too good to resist... A flaming faggot? BD> Yes, that certainly was a witticism worthy of Oscar Wilde. Now that you BD> have impressed us all with your mind-numbingly clever expression of BD> obvious, juvenile, and racist puns, could you please shut the BD> [expletive deleted] up? NC>Racist? Let's see, according to Webster's the term racist means; 1. NC>Concerning race, and 2. or the differences between races. You are either NC>seeing the word "nigger" magically appear in my comment or are just too NC>stupid to know the difference between racism and bigotry. NC>As far as the juvenile statement goes, YOU are the one who sounds NC>juvenile in your mind-numbingly clever little statement. Idiot. NC>(obscene suggestion "[expletive deleted] you!" deleted by respondent) Naturally you are, in terms of both the strict definition of the word and its usage in the common vernacular, wrong. Racism in the textbook sense is most strictly defined as the practice of discrimination based on a doctrine of racial superiority. I don't know what pocket dictionary you quoted your definition from but it is woefully inadequate, not to mention misleading. Of course, if you don't really know what the word means in the first place, as is obviously the case with you, looking it up in some rinky-dink paperback dictionary is of questionable value. The term "nigger" is not necessarily racist in the strict dictionary sense. It is only techically racist if it is applied to a member of one race as a means to denigrate them based on a practice of discrimination founded on the notion that the person saying the word is a member of a superior race. In the common vernacular, which we are in right now unless you are suggesting that you really desire sexual relation with me (re: your suggestion at the end of your last post), racism is used to cover a range of discrimatory practices, regardless of the reasoning behind them, on the basis of race, creed, religion, gender, or sexual orienation. Just as when writing in the common vernacular most authors will use the pronoun "he" or "she" instead of the technically correct "one" to describe a protagonist of indeterminate sex, "racism" is used in the place of more appopriate descriptions such as "sexism", "creedism", and "sexual orientationism". I would use the word "Bigotry", but again it is not technically accurate. A "Bigot" is a person who hold onto a creed, opinion, or idea in a blind, intolerant, and narrow-minded manner. "Bigotry" is most strictly defined as the behavior and beliefs of a bigot, and can also be used to describe intolerance and prejudice in general. Calling someone a "faggot" is merely a petty and uncreative way to denigrate their sexual orientation, so it really does not show the poster is a bigot without supporting context that shows shows WHY you felt it was necessary to say what you did. However, it would fall under the definition of bigotry as intolerance or prejudice. I did not use the word "bigotry" because it is more broad-based and less accurate than the common usage of "racism". I apologize if this was the cause of confusion and will do my best in future dealings with you to use words only by their strict dictionary definition. I have the feeling that this effort will be lost on you since you are low-brow enough to think calling someone a "faggot" is funny, but I will make the attempt nonetheless. ]:-) (I hope this satisfies any questions remaining amonst the userbase as to the meaning of these words...)
